The image furthest left you will see severe degenerative disc disease that appears to be bone on bone and possibly already fused. Specialized x-ray views, and motion palpation with flexion distraction is the way to determine the likelihood a joint will recover and regenerate.

The middle view you can see the two lowest discs where the black arrows are pointing gaining a dark lucent look between the bones this is regeneration of discs.

On the right view you can see even greater space where the yellow arrows are pointing allowing the more space
